Joe Pride Racing’s Wine ‘N’ Dine takes Rosehill closer

Wine ‘n’ Dine has taken out the last event at Rosehill on Saturday in what was the gelding’s fourth run in 18 days.

The son of Foreplay caused a boilover in the final event of the day, settling midfield before charging down the centre of the straight for a slender success over Final Decision and Avonaco.

The TAB More Than Just Winning Benchmark 78 Handicap was the gelding’s fourth run over the past 18 days which commenced with a well beaten eighth in a Warwick Farm midweek event on June 15.

“My racing manager talked me out of running him on Wednesday,” winning trainer Joe Pride said.

“Maybe she was right, it might have been one too many.

“That was his 18th run of his prep and has had five trials. He is a credit to our system. I am very proud of him, he is a lovely old horse.”

Wine ‘n’ Dine commenced his latest campaign in December 2015 with this clearly his best effort with previous wins this preparation coming at Hawkesbury and Warwick Farm.

“He is only six-year-old and this will probably be his last preparation,” Pride said.

“He has been so consistent this preparation which is something he lacked before.

“Dropping him back from an open handicap is a nice drop in grade.”

Today’s TAB More Than Just Winning Handicap was Wine ‘n’ Dine’s ninth career success at start 67.

Transported by Goldners Horse Transport to the races, Wine ‘n’ Dine’s win elevates his prizemoney earnings up above $300,000.
